Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire nursing home is closing its doors, leaving the residents who live there without a place to call home.

According to a press release from Clearwater Care Center, the nursing home will remain open until each resident has a new place to live.

“The owners of Clearwater Care Center have carefully considered the needs of the facilities’ residents and determined that, at this time, helping them to find homes in other communities is the most effective way to ensure that each individual receives the best care possible. This unfortunate conclusion comes after years of financial losses at the facility, which have placed its long-term viability in doubt,” the press release says.

The nursing home is located at 2120 Heights Drive. That is near HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital.

One resident who has lived at the facility for the last two years said she has nowhere to go after Clearwater closes.

“Then the next day it really hit me, and I’ve been kind of bawling ever since,” said Elizabeth Laciura. “This is family. You’re in a nursing home. I don’t have any outside friends or nothing like that.”

Laciura said she doesn’t know where she will go after the nursing home closes, but she doesn’t want to move far away from her grandson who visits her five times a week.
