Four proposals considered for redevelopment projects in downtown Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – City leaders are considering four development proposals for two vacant lots in downtown Eau Claire.

The Eau Claire Redevelopment Authority reviewed two proposals for ‘Block 7’ and two for the ‘Liner Site’ at its meeting on Wednesday.

Both sites are near the new parking ramp on Galloway street.

Eau Claire Economic Development Manager Aaron White said any of the projects would bring more people to the downtown area, whether it be to live, shop or eat. Some proposals include building a new children’s museum, affordable housing and space for retail and commercial businesses.

“Any one of the four would be ideal. Provides an ideal service or an ideal niche to the community. We’re just glad to see that the interest is there and there’s a diversity of proposals as well and we’re excited to see what comes of it,” said White.

White said city staff will come back to Redevelopment Authority with a financial analysis in a few weeks.
