Texas man going to federal prison for trying to have sex with child in Eau Claire

Madison (WQOW) – A Texas man was sentenced to federal prison for coming to Eau Claire to try and have sex with a minor.

According to court details, Hosler responded to an ad placed on the internet in August 2018. The ad offered a 12-year-old child for sexual purposes.

So, Hosler flew from Texas to Minnesota, rented a car and drove to Eau Claire where he was met by police.

When Hosler was arrested, police found a cell phone with minors engaging in sexual conduct.

Hosler was convicted in May.

Judge James Peterson called the defendant selfish and self-deluded, whose primary concern was his own sexual interest.  Peterson was concerned that Hosler was able to persuade himself that having sex with a 12-year-old was an OK thing to do.

Hosler will spend the next 10 years in federal prison.
