Cadott (WQOW) – Republican Senator Tom Tiffany announced his run for the 7th Congressional District Seat soon to be vacated by Sean Duffy.
As part of the announcement, Tiffany made several stops in the district including in Cadott.
Representative Duffy is resigning from Congress on September 23 due to health complications of the baby he and his wife are expecting in October.
Tuesday, Tiffany told supporters his record of supporting rural residents is why he’s running.
He said in Madison he helped put more money into rural broadband and kept taxes under control.
If he gets elected, the first thing he’ll do is address fiscal responsibility in Washington.
“I think that’s the number one concern is we do not want to bankrupt the country for future generations,” Tiffany said. “I have three daughters that are coming up. I want them to be able to have a bright future. Also, I’ll be working on some natural resources issues. [I’ve] been very involved with forestry.”
Tiffany’s seven-town tour will continue Wednesday with stops in Rice Lake, Hayward and Superior.
Governor Tony Evers is responsible for picking when the special election will be held. That date has not been announced.
