UPDATE: Missing veteran found, Green Alert canceled

UPDATE:
(WQOW) – Daniel Nelson Lee Werner has been located and the Green Alert has been canceled.


(WQOW) – Eau Claire police and other agencies in Wisconsin are seeking your help to find a veteran who is missing and considered at risk.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Daniel Nelson Lee Werner, 34, is missing from Madison. The DOJ says he was last seen in Clark County, but police say he was in Eau Claire first.

Eau Claire police tell News 18, around 6 a.m. Thursday, Eau Claire police received information Werner was in the Eau Claire area and had made comments concerning to his welfare. Eau Claire police say Werner has also made threats toward law enforcement.

Since receiving the information, Eau Claire police have been speaking to his friends and family about his state of mind and whereabouts.

Werner has served several tours overseas. A Green Alert is meant for veterans who are missing and at risk.

Werner is 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes with a tattoo on his right arm (Africa with a crown on it.)

He is believed to be in a rental car – a silver 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.

If you see him you are told not to approach him, and contact police immediately.
