Bicyclist killed when he hits rumble strip, goes into ditch

Pepin County (WQOW) – A Minnesota man was killed over the weekend when he fell off his bicycle in Pepin County.

According to Pepin County Sheriff Joel Wener, it happened Saturday morning at 10:36 on Highway 35 in the village of Stockholm.

The sheriff said Leslie Miner, 72, of Elk River, Minnesota was riding with a group from the Twin Cities when he hit the rumble strip, went into the ditch and fell off his bike.

Lifesaving measures were taken but he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff Wener said Miner was wearing a helmet.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
