Eau Claire (WQOW) – Plans to redevelop an Eau Claire park are moving forward.

The Boyd Park Plus project announced Monday they have surpassed their fundraising goal of $10,000 for the first phase of development.

The Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association decided to raise the money needed to spruce up the park because improvements were not on the city’s radar.

They will use the funds a hire a design firm to create plans for the park.

The project committee is hosting a picnic and input session Sunday at the park for the community to have a say in what they would like to see in the redesign.

“We’re trying to create a space where our neighbors can come down and get to know each other better, and an opportunity for kids to come out and explore nature and to just get out and play more,” said Chris Buske, the Boyd Park Plus subcommittee leader.

After consulting with the design firm, the project committee will start raising money for the actual construction of the new park.
