Eau Claire (WQOW) – Bond was set at $10,000 cash for the man accused of barging into the home of an Eau Claire pastor while armed with a machete.

Dirk Ballard was charged Friday with six counts, including attempted armed robbery with threat of force, armed burglary and car theft.

According to the criminal complaint, after Pastor Caleb Schaller forced the man out of his house and disarmed him, Ballard stole a truck from a nearby home. He then got involved in a crash with a semi in Fall Creek.

The semi driver said Ballard told him “things are about to get wild. I ran from the cops earlier and they are looking for me.”

The pastor said Ballard told him something like, I’m coming back, or, you better lock your doors, and then disappeared.

Ballard is due back in court in late September.
