Police: Motorcyclist driving erratically in moments before crash that killed 3

St. Croix County (WQOW) – Three people are dead and now the sheriff’s office in St. Croix County is awaiting toxicology results to find out more about what happened.

The three people were killed on Friday when a motorcycle crashed into a car in the town of Stanton.

More: Details of fatal crash

The driver of the car was Thomas John Plasch, 55, from Oakdale, Minnesota. The passenger was Miriam Rosal Espinosa, 46, also from Oakdale, Minnesota.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported the motorcycle driver, Cody Lynn Cook-Terhurne, 34, was traveling “at a very high rate of speed” just before the crash. They also said he was passing vehicles on the right shoulder.

Sheriff’s authorities add about 10 minutes before the crash, someone called police and said a motorcycle matching Cook-Terhurne’s was driving fast and passing vehicles on a hill.

There was a stop sign knocked down at the location of the crash, but it did not play a factor, according to the sheriff’s office. They said Plasch stopped even though the stop sign was down.
