In Barron County, thousands of people are without power. In the Chetek and Barron areas nearly 2,700 are without power. Viewers tell News 18 there are trees and power lines down.

Barron County Sheriff’s officials say there is heavy damage across the county. They add they do not know when power will be restored. They ask you do not call 911 to report trees down unless there are injuries or the tree is completely blocking the road.

Shelly Berg, Chippewa Falls

In Chippewa Falls, the dispatch phones are ringing off the hook. They say those calls include fires, crashes, downed power lines and downed trees. They add they will give priority to those who are endangered.
