Eau Claire County (WQOW) – The Eau Claire man accused of instigating a standoff with police will spend time behind bars.
Nicholas Burr pleaded guilty to six of the charges against him in May as part of a plea deal.
According to the criminal complaint, last August, Burr’s girlfriend said he was acting paranoid saying police had tapped his phone and the feds were after him. He later fired a shotgun in the air following an argument.
Police arrived at his home and a standoff ensued. At one point, Burr and his mother came outside and used a five-year-old girl to serve as a barrier between them and police.
After an hour of negotiations, both Burrs were taken into custody.
Monday, Judge Sarah Harless sentenced Burr to two years behind bars followed by four years of extended supervision and probation.
