Eau Claire (WQOW) – Wednesday is National Lineworker Appreciation Day, and Chippewa Valley Technical College is recognizing those who place themselves in harm’s way to serve their communities.
Wednesday, CVTC hosted tours of their facilitates, giving people an up-close look at one of the oldest lineworker training programs in the state.
Dean of Agricultural Energy Adam Wehling said students work in the utility training yard and practice with the equipment they’ll use after graduation.
Wehling said it’s important to show appreciation to the people who help keep the lights on.
“Utilities around here they provide us with gas for our homes, with electricity for everything we do, all these important communication devices, and just electricity and gas that basically comfort our life and provide us with the ability to be productive. So, it’s really important to celebrate this,” Wehling said.
CVTC provides two different lineworker programs and you can find more enrollment information here.
