July events mean big business for Eau Claire tourism

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Visit Eau Claire says all of the Independence Day celebrations will kick off a valuable month of tourism here.

Based on 2018 data from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, July accounts for 12% of $256 million spent by visitors in Eau Claire.

Visit Eau Claire Executive Director Linda John said July is part of the reason the county jumped from 16th to 10th last year in state tourism spending.

“It’s new money into our community which is what makes the tourism industry such a powerful industry,” John said. “It’s money that wouldn’t be here but for these events and attractions and wonderful things we have to offer.”

Some other big events sure to bring in tourists this month – the National Kubb Championships and Country Jam.
