Chippewa Falls (WQOW) – Some Chippewa Falls residents took advantage of Wednesday’s nice weather by taking part in the first Party in the Park summer program.

The park is Riverfront Park in Chippewa Falls and the party is fun activities and games the public library has purchased thanks to a Mayo Clinic Health Systems grant.

Library employee Jenna Gilles-Turner said the program is designed to bring the community together where families can gather and meet when they may not have otherwise.

“We’re not all about just books at the library, that can be a pretty common stereotype. I won’t hold it against anybody, but we like to get out in the community, we like to bring people together and meet one another,” Gilles-Turner said. “You know there were families today that never met each other. So, making those connections between families is really important for us as well.”

Party in the Park will be every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., weather permitting.
