Eau Claire ( WQOW ) – Eau Claire was recently ranked one of the best cities to live in Wisconsin.
Eau Claire was named the 12th best Wisconsin city to live in from the small business research group Chamber of Commerce.
According to Chamber of Commerce, the study examined 2,500 cities and considered five factors: employment (number of establishments, median earnings); housing (owner-occupied housing with a mortgage, monthly housing costs); quality of life (work commute, poverty levels); education (percentage with a bachelor’s degree or higher); and health (obesity ratios).
Scott Rogers from the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce said of those five factors, the city knows where there is the most room to grow.
“No place is perfect and we’re always trying to improve on things. There’s a major effort right now to solve some housing issues. We, all the way across the spectrum, we don’t have enough supply with our growing economy and growing population,” said Rogers.
City leaders are working on making changes. Right now, there’s a task force working on improving access to affordable housing.
Rogers said the city’s priority is to keep moving forward and ranking high on reports like this reflect those efforts.
