Trial set for Cornell man who allegedly punched boy for being hungry

Chippewa County (WQOW) – A jury trial is set for the Cornell man who allegedly punched a boy after he complained about being hungry.

David Markham is charged with felony child abuse. 

According to the criminal complaint, Markham punched the boy after he texted his mother he hadn’t eaten all day and was hungry.

The boy told police Markham confronted him about the texts and told him not to disrespect him.

A 12-person jury trial is set for mid-November.
