Eau Claire (WQOW) – UW-Eau Claire is bringing new cultures to campus through music.

Esko Jarvela is a fiddler who came to Eau Claire all the way from Finland with his fiddle group called Teho to share their talents with other local musicians through a fiddle master class at the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Local musicians had a chance to bring their instruments, join in and ask questions.

UWEC Professor Paul Kaldjian said this is a great experience for everyone to learn from one another.

“We do a very good job on campus of sending kids and bringing kids and students overseas, but there are a lot of students who don’t have that same opportunity, so we want to bring overseas to campus,” Kaldjian said.

The group performed Tuesday night at Shift Cyclery and Coffee Bar in Eau Claire.
