72nd Shrine Circus in Eau Claire Tuesday & Wednesday

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Do you remember going to the circus as a kid? Well, you can get a dose of nostalgia with your family this week with the Mehara Shrine Circus!

For the 72nd year, this self-proclaimed “greatest show on Earth” is back on in Carson Park. If you check out the event (either Tuesday or Wednesday), you’ll be able to get up close with elephants and watch exciting performances by tightrope walkers, acrobats and more!

The circus is the Mehara Shrine Club’s largest fundraiser of the year, which supports local projects, along with their mission to help children across the state.

“Originally they would arrive by train, and then they would have a big parade through town, and that was kind of a way to get the community all together,” said Brain Dunham, president of the Eau Claire Mehara Shriners. “It stemmed from that and we’ve just continued to do it because we’ve had so much fun and success with it.”

The circus will be in Carson Park on Tuesday, June 11 (with shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and Wednesday, June 12 (shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.), before moving on to Menomonie on Thursday, June 13. You can get tickets at area Kwik Trips, or online here
