Eau Claire (WQOW) – School is out at UW-Eau Claire, but the campus was bustling on Tuesday.

That’s because it was Senior Americans Day!

Organizers said it is a day of fun for anyone over the age of 55.

Activities ranged from arts and crafts, gardening, health screening, finances and more.

Headlining the event was local celebrity and author Michael Perry as a keynote speaker.

Organizers said it is just a fun way to give back.

“They really enjoy a day that’s dedicated to them,” said Tamara Mumm, a program associate for Senior American Day. “We’ve gotten so much from our seniors. They have a lot to offer us – a lot of wisdom, a lot of fun stories and it’s just a great day to give back to them and let them have some fun and be entertained and educated as well.”

It was the 31st time UWEC hosted the event.
