Eau Claire (WQOW) — Students at Chippewa Valley Technical College now have more opportunities to study abroad, thanks to a recent grant.
CVTC got a federal grant for about $35,000 from the State Department, which will help develop curriculum and prepare for an upcoming trip to Belize, along with helping fund future trips.
CVTC’s Student Life Specialist, Alisa Schley told News 18, students wanted the opportunity to travel abroad, and agreed it provides global perspective applicable to their career paths.
“The world’s getting much smaller, and many businesses and industries within our area have global connections,” Schley said. “This makes our students even more marketable when they are hired for their jobs.”
CVTC’s study abroad program started in May of 2018. Schley said the trips are between 10 and 14 days, compared to a year or semester long, to offer a more accessible education experience for students.
