Chippewa Falls (WQOW) — You can now pet cute and cuddly creatures at the Irvine Park.

The petting zoo opened for the summer on Monday and the barnyard gang is all there, with the exception of a few pigs that should be showing up within the next few days.

One park employee says there are lessons and values that kids can learn from these animals.

“It’s just a lot of fun and it’s a good opportunity to teach your kids about different animals and how to respect animals and also to kind of show them as they’re watching our petting zoo employees work. That it’s more than just getting to pet them. You still got to clean their stalls. They still have to be fed. They’ve got to be taken care of,” Missy Prieve said.

The park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
