Eau Claire (WQOW) – Police say a man behind an armed robbery in Eau Claire on Tuesday night has been arrested.

Michael Heil, 38, was arrested for armed robbery and bail jumping.

Eau Claire police said he showed up at The Tobacco Shop on Gateway Drive Tuesday night around 8:30. Police said he showed the clerk a gun and took cash.

Heil then took off running and got into a nearby car, police said.

Eventually the car was stopped and Heil was taken into custody. Police found a BB gun and a “large amount of money” in the car.

Heil is expected to make his initial appearance on Thursday when formal charges will be filed.
