One dead in two-vehicle Clark Co. crash

Clark County (WQOW) — One person is dead after an apparent head-on, two-vehicle crash in Clark County Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, officials received a call at 7:17 a.m. of a crash on STH 73 by Schofield Rd. in the Township of Weston. First responders arrived and saw the two vehicles that looked to have collided head-on.

Per the release, one vehicle was blocking both north and southbound lanes facing east, while the other vehicle was on the east shoulder facing a southeast direction.

The release said both drivers were from the Neillsville area and wearing seat belts. One driver was flown via helicopter to the Marshfield Medical Center, but the other driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing by the Clark County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Office and the State Patrol. The Neillsville Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Marshfield Medical Center Helicopter and Coroner Schleife also assisted.

The drivers’ identities are not being disclosed at this time.

This is the third traffic fatality in Clark County this year, per the release.
