Feed My People Food Bank seeking volunteers for Stamp Out Hunger event

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Officials at Feed My People Food Bank are asking for your help to ‘Stamp out Hunger’ this weekend.

On Saturday, your mail carrier will be collecting bags filled with non-perishable foods for the 27th Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Those bags will then be dropped off at Feed My People, sorted, then distributed to other local food pantries.

Staff at Feed My People told News 18 this event is another way to further their mission of ending hunger.

“It gets the food from people’s homes to our location, saving people the time and energy it would take to find time in their day,” said Courtenay Johnson, interim volunteer coordinator for Feed My People. “We take a few steps out of the process, and we can distribute that back out to the community for free.”

Johnson also said Feed My People needs more volunteers for sorting shifts this Saturday (3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
