Police: Drunk driver leads officers on car chase through people’s lawns

Jackson County (WQOW) – A Black River Falls man was arrested over the weekend, but not before taking police on a chase, both in his vehicle and on foot.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jon Peterson, 30, of Black River Falls was driving drunk and without a license on Saturday around 12:50 a.m.

When stopped by police, officers asked him to get out of his vehicle. Instead of getting out, he drove away from deputies “at a high rate of speed.”

Police say the chase took them through several people’s lawns in Black River Falls until he hit a fire pit and got stuck.

That’s when Peterson got out and ran away.

Deputies used a K-9 to arrest Peterson.

He was arrested for fleeing an officer, reckless endangering safety, operating while intoxicated 2nd offense, operating while revoked, resisting arrest, a probation hold and several traffic violations.
