Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man accused of stealing a Make-A-Wish Foundation gift from a local family was sentenced in Dunn County Court.

Monday, Ryan Weiss pleaded no contest to a count of burglary.

Judge Rod Smeltzer sentenced him to three years probation. He’ll also serve six months in jail for bail jumping.

Police say Weiss and Michael Tenney looted a home that had been the scene of a fire in November of 2017.

Among the items taken was a signed Michael Jordan jersey. It had been given to the homeowner’s six-year-old daughter, who was suffering from a life-threatening disease.

Weiss and Tenney are also ordered to pay $63,785 in restitution.
