Boston Marathon ends in near photo finish

Boston (WQOW) – The race to win the 2019 Boston Marathon came right down to the wire.

In the 123rd running of the event, Lawrence Cherono edged Lelisa Desisa in the closest finish in the Boston Marathon since 1988.

Chereno of Kenya ran it in 2:07:57. Desisa from Ethiopia finished just two tenths of a second back. Those times are unofficial.

Rachel Drescher, a teacher in Altoona, was still running as of 12:28. She is competing in her first Boston Marathon.
