Prison time ordered for Clear Lake man in attempted murder case

Polk County (WQOW) – A Clear Lake man accused of attempted murder has been sentenced.

Polk County law enforcement said Leonard Anderson fired at least six shots from a .22-caliber rifle into the SUV of a man trying to pick up his camper from Anderson’s property.

Anderson told police he got angry and saw red. He referenced his military experience as a catalyst for his behavior, and called the victim a threat.

In January, he pleaded no contest to 1st degree recklessly endangering safety in exchange for the attempted murder charge being dropped.

Monday, Judge Eugene Harrington sentenced Anderson to 2 1/2 years in prison followed by 2 1/2 years of extended supervision.
