Suspect in custody following standoff in Eau Claire County

Township of Clear Creek (WQOW) — The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect is in custody after an hour and a half long standoff with deputies.

Officials said the initial call came in around 6:00 p.m for a domestic incident on County Road V in the Township of Clear Creek. The caller told dispatchers that he and his roommate, a 61 year old man, had gotten into a physical altercation. At one point, the victim told police that his roommate told police that the suspect pointed a .22 caliber ‘sawed-off’ rifle at him. The victim told deputies he later shot several rounds at his vehicle parked in the driveway.

The victim was able to get out of the home and call 911.

Eau Claire County Regional SWAT, Eau Claire County Sheriff’s deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol officers responded to the home. An hour and a half long standoff ensued before the suspect finally surrendered to police without incident.

He was arrested and is being held on several charges. The case remains under investigation.
