Barron (WQOW) – Isaak Abdi Mohamed came up short of making history again, though, as he was defeated by Paul Solie. Mohamed would have been the first Somali to hold office.

Solie picked up 402 votes while Mohamed had 300 votes.

Solie is a Barron native who left after high school but returned to the community for retirement. He said he filed papers because he was concerned nobody would run for the open seat. He said he will work closely with the Somali community.
