Eau Claire police, Wisconsin State Patrol report numerous crashes, slide-ins

(WQOW) – Crashes and slide-ins climbed on Sunday, as the snow continued to accumulate on residential roads, highways and freeways.

Since the snow began to fall Sunday morning, the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post reported 48 run offs, 25 crashes and 15 disabled cars (flat tires, dead batteries, etc.). Those numbers do not include the 40 vehicles involved in a pile-up on I-94 near Osseo Sunday afternoon.

As for the Eau Claire Police Department, officers reported 12 crashes and 7 vehicle assists.

Officers and troopers recommend drivers continue to use caution, because the road conditions are still slippery.
