Eau Claire (WQOW) — Thanks to the generosity of the Eau Claire community, 20018 was a record year for an area foundation.

Officials at the Eau Claire Community Foundation told News 18 they received an unprecedented $4.9 million in donations last year. They gave over 500 grants to area organizations, totaling over $2.8 million. Non-profits such as The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley, Feed My People Food Bank and Western Dairyland are just a few that received more than $10,000 in grants.

Community Foundation Executive Director Sue Bornick told News 18 giving back to the community in such a big way, wouldn’t be possible without donors.

“The impact that we can make now and forever in Eau Claire, is going to be incredible,” Bornick said. “By investing out dollars through the endowment, those dollars are going to grow, and every year we’ll be able to give out more and more grants.”

Bornick hopes the foundation can give out even more grants this year.
