Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man is facing 140 years behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting two children nearly 20 years ago.

Benjamin Heath, 44, is charged with three felony counts of sexual assault of a child including one under the age of 13.

According to the criminal complaint, the first victim told police Heath assaulted her when she was about 15-years-old, 16 years ago.

She told police she first disclosed the assault to a former therapist but didn’t report it to police because she was scared.

The second victim told police Heath assaulted her twice when she was nine or 10. She told police her life hasn’t been the same since.

When arrested, Heath told police he didn’t know he could be charged based on accusations.

On Thursday, Judge Jon Theisen released Heath on a $10,000 signature bond with the conditions he not contact the victims.

He’s due back in court March 4.
