Jesse Lloyd sentenced to 20 years in prison

Chippewa County (WQOW) – A man once accused of murder was sentenced for other charges on Thursday.

Jesse Ray Lloyd was acquitted in the 2016 murder of Kenneth Patterson, but convicted of armed robbery and being a felon with a gun.

Lloyd’s attorney made a point not to compare his client to Matthew Labrec, who pleaded guilty to two charges in connection to the murder of Patterson, in exchange for testifying against Lloyd. He did not feel Lloyd should have a sentence as long as Labrec.

Prosecutors said Lloyd should be held accountable for the crimes he committed and that he needs more time in prison to become a safe member of society.

In the end, Judge James Isaacson sentenced Lloyd to 20 years behind bars.
