Eau Claire (WQOW) – Kids at Roosevelt Elementary School learned some life skills on Wednesday.

Community Table employees and volunteers taught the students how to create at ‘Meal In A Jar.’ The goal is for kids to learn nutrition skills, culinary experience and to have the confidence to make their own food.

Community Table provided nutritional education, tools and the food to create a healthy macaroni and cheese.

The meal consisted of canned chicken an assortment of vegetable noodles and spinach.

A portable stove was brought in also to teach the kids how to boil the noodles.

“We had about 10 different volunteers come in and make this possible to help them learn about what’s in beets, whats in tomatoes, whats in spinach, and just help them with just making a whole mean in the jar. So, it was truly a community effort,” said Marie Shug, volunteer coordinator at the Community Table.

Over 280 students made a ‘Meal In A Jar’ on Wednesday.
