Update (WQOW) – Eau Claire police continue to search the Chippewa River for missing veteran James Liedtka.
Liedtka is a student at UW-Stout who was reported missing Sunday, November 4.
Tuesday, police and fire crews are searching the riverbank along the 200-400 blocks of Water Street after detectives spotted Liedtka on Water St. video surveillance walking in the 300-400 blocks. He was last seen walking eastbound behind the Pickle Tavern towards the bike trail at 1:13 a.m.
Liedtka is described to be 5’7″, 170 lbs with dark brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, maroon shirt and jeans.

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Eau Claire police along with fire and rescue are searching for a missing veteran and another person.
A News 18 reporter has confirmed crews are looking for James Liedtka, 28, who has been missing since Sunday. Liedtka is a student at UW-Stout who was last seen on the 1100 block of Water Street. He has not been to classes all week. There is no activity in his house in Eau Claire and his car is empty.
According to Liedtka’s telephone records, his last activity was on November 4, 2018 at 8:25 pm. This activity could be an incoming phone call or incoming text message. The telephone is now inactive, which means it is either shut off or the battery has died. The GPS coordinates provided by the telephone company led the police to the 1100 block Menomonie Street near the Chippewa River.
The Eau Claire Police Department and the Eau Claire Fire Department are searching this area. No additional assistance is needed in the search. If you see him call 911.

While on scene, News 18 has also learned searchers are looking for a second missing person, Toby Cleasby. He was reportedly last seen on Monday evening.
Cleasby, 53, of Gilmanton, was reported missing Tuesday. His vehicle was found near North Shore Drive and Hitchkiss Road in Eau Claire County. A search of the area with a K-9, law enforcement and fire officials did not find him.
