(WQOW) – As we all mourn here in the Chippewa Valley, groups across the United States are planning to come together Saturday to honor Troop 3055.

Reports say there will be more than 600 vigils taking place Saturday afternoon from Menomonie to California.

According to Facebook event pages, Girl Scouts USA asks all Girl Scout troops to meet Saturday to remember the girls and perform a community service project to honor them.

Locally, vigils are planned in both Mondovi and Menomonie. Below is information from each group.

Mondovi: Our local Mondovi Girl Scout troops are organizing at OUR SAVIORS UNITED METHODIST at 4pm, where we will make thank you cards for Mondovi police, fire, and EMTs as our service to the community. At 5pm we will have a moment of silence and prayer, followed by a Girl Scout circle and songs. We invite all members of the community to join us.

Menomonie: Menomonie’s Vigil will be held at Wilson Park. Senior Troop 3225 will lead other troops and the community in song along with the Girl Scout Law and the Girl Scout Promise. We will be collecting canned food items for Stepping Stones and donations for the Dunn County Humane Society from 2:30-3:30.
