Eau Claire (WQOW) — Many in our area are unsure of when their next meal will come, so a local partnership is trying to ease their worries through a long-standing program.
On Thursday, the Eau Claire County Aging and Disability Recourse Center (ADRC) and Feed My People Food Bank sent our pre-packaged meals with volunteers for the ‘Meals on Wheels’ program. The boxes contain shelf-stable foods that can easily be made on days when the program volunteers might not be able to deliver, such as a day with hazardous weather.
ADRC officials told News 18 they’ve seen the positive impact of ‘Meals on Wheels’.
“When you can provide someone with a hot meal that they literally have to do nothing with, except peel a little plastic off and eat it, and then of course see a friendly face everyday, where they might not get that chance otherwise, you really get that opportunity to make a huge impact,” said Kaylynn Stahlbusch with the E.C. County ADRC.
Stahlbusch also said the program is donation based, but it is not required if you’re part of it.
