Fundraiser planned at Eau Claire VFW, all proceeds benefit families of Girl Scouts killed

Eau Claire (WQOW) – It’s now been four days since three Girl Scouts and one of their mothers were killed by an alleged intoxicated driver near Lake Hallie. The tragedy still remains fresh as the first of the victims will be laid to rest on Thursday.

In the midst of the tragedy, it has been the helpers and community members who have helped raise those hurt out of darkness.

Now, another Chippewa Valley organization is stepping up to the plate.

VFW Post 305 on Starr Ave will be hosting a breakfast buffet on the 17th and 18th of November. All proceeds will go toward the bank account set up for the Girl Scouts’ families at CCFBank.

When: Saturday and Sunday, November 17 & 18, 7-11 a.m. both days

Where: VFW Hall, 1300 Starr Ave

Cost: Adults $10, Kids 12 and under $5.

There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Winners for the raffle will be drawn each day. The silent auction will run throughout the weekend.


(WQOW) –News 18 has learned Leinie Lodge will be donating all tour and sampling proceeds to the victims and families of the Chippewa Falls Girl Scout troop #3055 through the Helpful Hearts Foundation.


Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire dance studio is hoping to mend broken hearts while raising money for a family grieving after losing a child.

Alicia Knopps, owner of Diamond School of Dance, is hosting an event in memory of Autumn Helgeson the first weekend of December. Helgeson, a former student at Diamond School of Dance, was killed over the weekend picking up trash near Lake Hallie.

The event “Dance for Autumn” will run from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday December 1.

Donations will be accepted. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Helgeson family.
