(WQOW) – Republicans came into the night with a sizable advantage in the Wisconsin Assembly 64-35.

Tuesday, voters picked representatives for all 99 seats in Madison.

In the 91st Assembly, there will be a change in representation. Dana Wachs, the only person to ever hold the seat, stepped down to run for governor.

That guaranteed a political newcomer would win the race to represent Eau Claire – either Democrat Jodi Emerson or Echo Reardon.

The votes are in and Emerson has won the seat.

Emerson worked for Fierce Freedom, a group with the aim to abolish human trafficking.

She heads to Madison with experience crafting legislation and said she ran because she is frustrated with the political process.
