Police identify two men involved in fatal Rusk County crash

UPDATE: The sheriff’s office has identified the two people involved in a fatal crash in Rusk County over the weekend.

According to the sheriff’s office, Justin Bose, 28, of Rice Lake was killed when he crossed the center line and hit Mike Stopczynski, 46, of Phelps. Stopczynski was treated for minor injuries and arrested for his fourth OWI and bail jumping.


Rusk County (WQOW) – One person is dead and another is in custody after a crash in Rusk County over the weekend.

According to Rusk County Sheriff Jeffery Wallace, the crash happened Saturday night around 6:35.

Wallace said a vehicle was heading eastbound on Highway 8 when it crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle going westbound. The eastbound driver was ejected and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the sheriff, the driver of the westbound vehicle, which was struck by the eastbound vehicle, was driving under the influence. That driver was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated.
