Eau Claire (WQOW) – Each month, News 18 will be introducing you to our Student of the Month!
This month, we meet a student who pushes herself to not only be a great student, but a great advocate.
Eau Claire North High School Senior Abby Green has her sights set high, both in and outside the classroom.
With a perfect 4.0 GPA and vigorous courses, she finds the time to be active in show choir, the school board and other clubs and groups. However, her biggest passion is being a voice of advocacy at school and in Eau Claire.
“Well, I try to get involved as much as possible in advocacy in the community,” Green said.
Last March, Green organized the the school walk out to stand in solidarity with the students of Stoneman Douglas High School after the deadly shooting in Parkland, Florida.
“I was actually watching the news one morning and I saw a student from Parkland speak and it was really inspiring,” Green said. “I just though we need to do this at North, how do we get this started?”
Principal Cale Bushman said what impresses him most is how much she cares about her classmates.
“She’s certainly not one who picks one group,” Bushman said. “She’s an advocate for all kids in the building, which is admirable.”
So, her goals before graduation?
“More so to grow the advocacy and respect that we have at North which is already great,” Green said. “We’re getting going, but I’m hoping to send in some underclassmen who want to keep things going when I’m gone, so the clubs, I’m hoping to find active and excited kids to keep that going.”
Green’s plans for after graduation are to attend college and study either political science or pre-law.
