St. Croix Falls schools closed Thursday due to threat

St. Croix Falls (WQOW) – Schools in St. Croix Falls are closed on Thursday because of a threat made by a student.

Superintendent of Schools Mark Burandt told News 18 they believed the threat was legitimate. He said the student who allegedly made the threat was taken into custody.

Burandt said the decision to close schools for the day was out of “an abundance of safety” for students and staff.

He said parents should be honest with kids about what happened, but also to reassure them at no point were they in direct danger.

Schools are expected to be open on Friday.
