According to Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, the number of officers working the case has been cut in about half.

In a one-on-one interview with News 18, Fitzgerald told News 18 that 120 officers are in on the investigation, versus more than 200 working the case just last week.

The sheriff also talked to News 18 about Kyle Jaenke-Annis, 32, the man who is facing charges after allegedly breaking into the Closs home and stealing Jayme’s clothing.

Fitzgerald said Jaenke-Annis was cleared quickly in Jayme’s disappearance, but not before a lot of digging was done. The sheriff said they searched Jaenke-Annis’ residence and his parents’ residence the same day as the allegedly robbery. He was also extensively questioned.

Most of all, Fitzgerald said he, and the community, is still holding on to hope that Jayme is alive.
