Eau Claire (WQOW) — November is almost here, but some local middle school students are focused on December, for a very special reason.

Christmas ornaments were created by a group of students, using paper images placed inside orbs. You may be thinking, ornaments, already? It’s because DeLong was selected by the National Parks Service to create  ornaments that reflect the seasons in Wisconsin, so they can be displayed on the state’s Christmas tree in Washington D.C. this year.

“If people walk away seeing that our teachers go above and beyond to find opportunities for our kids to have a chance to showcase their talents, I think that’s important,” said Principal Tim O’Reilly. “Just for our students, taking that pride and doing something above and beyond as well.”

O’Reilly also told News 18 he’s proud of DeLong’s art program and the students for stepping up to take on this project.

The ornaments will be shipped out Wednesday.
