Eagle run over by semi rescued near Bloomer

Chippewa County (WQOW) – A bald eagle is alive after being struck by a semi near Bloomer.

Travis Hakes, a volunteer with Wildlife Rehabilitation and Rescue, said the eagle was feeding on a carcass on the side of the road when it was hit by a semi, fracturing its wing.

A passerby called police. Hakes, Chippewa County Deputy Mark Hollister and Bloomer Officer Mark McElroy responded and rescued the eagle.

The eagle was transported to the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota where they will try to rehab the bird’s wing.
