Altoona (WQOW)- Another new medical center is bringing more jobs to our area – this time in Altoona.

Prevea Health has already begun construction on Woodman Drive in the River Prairie development area for a 30,000-plus square foot medical office.

President and CEO of Prevea Health Dr. Ashok Rai said the $15 million building will be home to a variety of specialty health care services including neurology, pediatrics and audiology to name a few.

“We do see a need, actually from all the providers we’ve recruited here we’re actually out of space. That building is actually going to be full the day it’s open with the provider recruiters based on what our community assessment has shown us,” Rai said.

Rai said they hope to finish construction and be moved in by September 2019.

Prevea Health also announced its sponsorship of the amphitheater, which is now called the Prevea Amphitheater at River Prairie Park.

Rai said they plan to promote and help the city maintain and program the River Prairie Park.
