Eau Claire (WQOW) – Leffel Roots Apple Orchard in Eau Claire is teaming up with Feed My People Food Bank to give back to the community.

From now until Sunday the orchard is welcoming people to come and pick apples for the hungry.

People can pick as many apples as they want, for as long as they want, as long as it’s during business hours.

Laura Leffel the co-owner of the orchard said so far they’ve been able to donate 1,600 pounds of apples.

Leffel said they hope to send over another 1,600 pounds to the organization, but they need your help.

“We hope that people use it as a family bonding experience, you know teach your kids something about giving back to the community and just a little bit about thankfulness,” Leffel said.

Leffel said anyone can come out and help, and they even have a handicap accessible area for people to pick.
