UPDATE:
(WQOW) – A New Richmond man accused of trying to kill his mother will serve time in prison.

Last September, police said Omar Martinez put a loaded handgun to his mother’s head and pulled the trigger twice, but the gun misfired both times.

In July, Martinez agreed to a plea deal pleading guilty to two felonies, in return for the dismissal of an attempted murder charge.

Monday, the judge sentenced Martinez to 3 1/2 years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision. Once he is out of jail, he is ordered to maintain absolute sobriety.
