Eau Claire (WQOW)- Members of Peace Church in Eau Claire make it their mission to help feed hungry kids around the world, and this year they received extra help from local 4th graders.

Feed My Starving Children is a national organization that delivers meals to kids that have little-to-no food.

The organization is in Eau Claire for the second year in a row.

Missions Director at Peace Church Jordan Van Proosdy said the church was able to raise $30,000 to have the organization come to Eau Claire. That money covers the cost of food and shipping it around the world.

Van Proosdy said they will be packing 130,000 bags Friday and Saturday, and each bag serves six meals.

He said they have about 700 volunteers, and among those volunteers are 4th graders at Manz Elementary.

He said we take a lot of food for granted, so it’s important to give back to kids in need.

“We get a meal everyday, three times a day, snacks when we want and these kids, I mean, this meal might be the only meal they have for a long time and it just goes such a long way,” Van Proosdy said.

He said each bag is full of healthy foods including rice, soy and vegetables.

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department donates food locally, and they said it’s important to donate healthy foods, and skip mac and cheese and other junk food.
